2017-2018

This year we decided to shift from transitional housing to a coffee shop in order to give the people on the reservation a way to make money. We shifted from houses because god had opened new doors for us to walk through.

This school year, our team has expanded from twelve to twenty-three people, allowing for many new opportunities. With so many skills being brought to the table, and changes on the reservation, we switched gears and created a coffee shop container known as “Covenant Coffee House: The Daily Grind.” This container was built at our first annual Blitz Build, a two-day event in which the container was completed from start to finish, minus a few finishing touches. A team of four students, Hill Wilson and Katherine Neil, from the management team, and Sarah Mitchell and Danielle Deckard, club members, were trained by Summit Coffee in Davidson to become baristas. They then used these skills to create drinks for the new coffee shop and train the NoNeck family in South Dakota. A small team went out to the Reservation to deliver and set up the new Coffee shop.
