OUR MISSION

ContainIt has a passion to reach those less fortunate than ourselves, both around the world and locally. In order to bring housing to the homeless in Charlotte, we have to know the people and the area we are working with. This requires much intentional research as well as getting involved in the community through volunteer opportunities. Our team has been to meetings with various members of our community to get a better idea of the affordable housing program and amount of homeless people in our area. We have learned that there are many types of homeless people, and we need to find our niche and stick with meeting those needs. For example, there are those who are with shelter, without shelter, chronically homeless, children, families, adults only, veterans, and those in need of transitional housing, to name a few. Below, you can see some current statistics of homelessness in Charlotte.

TINY HOUSE PROJECT

Starting in 2019, ContainIt is unrolling something big: tiny houses for the homeless in our own city. We are excited to go on this endeavor and are listening to the Lord throughout the process. We are working closely with Little Architecture to finalize designs for our tiny houses and will start construction in May of 2020. Currenly, we are building a model tiny house on Saturday workdays to take with us to show other companies and to have experience building. Our two main projects for Charlotte are a tiny house village at Elon Homes for young adults who have grown out of foster care and then we are working with a pastor for Warehouse 242 to put a tiny house for homeless people in his backyard.
